Peter Bradley named LETU psychology professor, director and TAMFT president

LeTourneau University announces that Peter Douglas Bradley has joined LETU as a psychology professor and director of LETU?s graduate psychology, counseling and marriage and family therapy programs, effective Jan 1. Bradley was also recently elected the president-elect of the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, a division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), an international professional organization established in 1942. In his TAMFT role, Bradley will serve as president-elect for one year, president for two years and past-president for one year.

Bradley holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Louisiana in Monroe, and his doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from Virginia Tech University. Dr. Bradley completed post-doctoral training as a fellow at Houston Child Guidance Center, as well as the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, Calif.

He is a licensed marriage and family therapist and licensed professional counselor in the state of Texas. He has worked as a therapist with individuals, couples and families for over two decades and has trained master?s and doctoral students in marriage & family therapy, psychology and professional counseling. He has also provided supervision for post-graduate therapists seeking their LPC and LMFT licenses.

As a professor at LETU, he is the director of three graduate degrees: a Master of Arts in counseling, a Master of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, delivered online and in classes in Longview.

Besides serving on the board of the TAMFT, he also has served on the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Ethics Committee, twice as chair. He is a clinical fellow and approved supervisor with the AAMFT. He was appointed by Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to the Arkansas State Board of Examiners and served as chair for two years.

In 2005 Bradley founded the Marital Research Institute, a nonprofit organization established to study healthy marriages and develop preventive and restorative treatments for unhealthy marriages. He and his wife of 25 years have four children. His family has lived in the Flower Mound, Texas area for nearly30 years.
